How To Add Muscle In A Hurry

If you're one of those guys that has trouble putting on weight and adding muscle to your body then I highly recommend you read this article in it's entirety and discover how exactly you can add muscle in a hurry.

This article covers all three aspects necessary for muscular growth and they are working out/exercising, diet and nutrition and rest and recuperation. All three are necessary for growth so if all you've been doing is hitting the gym now you know why you haven't been growing. Keep reading and discover what you can do to start growing.

Most people know that working out in the gym or exercising with weights is necessary for growth but what they don't know is that no growth takes place in the gym. That's right no growth takes place inside the gym unless you're sleeping there. All you're doing when you're in the gym pumping that iron is breaking down your muscle tissue.

You're stretching your muscles to the point of exhaustion and the result is broken down muscle tissue.
The harder you work out and the more weight you lift the bigger your muscles will get.

That's just your body trying to adapt to it's new surroundings and the new stress you're placing it under. But again you don't grow in the gym you grow outside of it so what you do outside the gym will actually determine how big you get and how much muscle you add.

The most important part you need to need remember about this article is that your muscles need protein to grow. They will grow without it but you're only growing at about maybe 10-15% of your potential. You need about 1 gram of protein for every pound you weigh. So if you weigh 200 pounds you should be consuming 200 grams of protein per day to maintain that muscle.

If you want to grow, you should consume 1.5 - 2 grams of protein for every pound you weigh.

So if you weigh 200 lbs. and you want to bulk up to say 225 you should consume 300-400 grams of protein and that's if you're looking to add lean muscle. You can easily bulk up by consuming a ton of carbohydrates but most of the weight you'll be adding is fat. This article is for people who want to add muscle not people who want to get fat.

So 1 gram of protein for every pound you weigh is a lot of protein. It's really a lot of food and I'll be honest with you it's going to be hard to do it without using protein supplements and protein shakes.

If you're really adamant about adding muscle I strongly recommend you buy some kind of protein/carbohydrate supplement. The protein/carbohydrate supplement I use is sold for $30 for a 3 lb. container just to give you a frame of reference when you go out shopping.

If you use it the way I outline below you will add a lot of muscle and fast.

The absolute best time to consume your protein and carbohydrate shake is right after your workout. I mean no later then 30 minutes after your workout because right after your workout your muscles are screaming for protein.

You've just stretched and torn them and now they need protein to start to rebuild. Give it to them and make sure you include carbohydrates with your shake so that your body has something to burn for fuel and all the protein goes straight to your muscles.

You also want to drink a protein/carbohydrate shake first thing in the morning.

This time of the day is important because you basically fast all night for like 6-8 hours and your body is looking for something to burn for fuel if it isn't already burning your hard earned muscles and fat for fuel. You don't want that so have some protein first thing in the morning with some carbohydrates to prevent any more muscle loss.

The last part of the equation for muscular growth is rest and recuperation.

Your muscles actually do the most of their growing in the middle of the night when you're sleeping. In order for muscles to grow you need to be sleeping at least 8 hours per night. Anything less and you're just not giving your muscles enough time to recuperate from the workouts you're putting them through.

When looking to add muscle to your body always remember that working out is only one part of the equation. In order for your muscles to grow to their full potential you also have to consume enough protein and sleep 8 hours a night.
